The ficlets are mainly in there since I don't have many threading examples. My computer's crashed about seven times since I started my RP career, and most recently at a time where most of my games died off and I'm trying to find as many new threads as I can.
More about my playing:
I really do prefer thread. I have a husband, two cats, a full-time job, and a very demanding boss. I really do have a life outside of my laptop, though it often doesn't seem like it. I have AIM, but I mostly use it for my OOC business and rarely remember to take myself off of away. Not feeling like I have to get an AIM tag in an RP down in about a minute and a half helps my writing, too.
As I just wrote, I'm married. I did it legally, too, and I live in the United States. Ergo, I am over eighteen. Actually, I'm also over twenty-one. I may have days where I act like I'm five years old, but I certainly know better than to break all those "don't be an idiot" rules. I learned my lesson the hard way once, and don't really ever feel like repeating those actions.
I have tried to play males so many times in my life, but every time I do they always turn out flat. There was only one male I was ever really happy with in my repertoire, and the game he was at died off within a week. So please. Unless you have a home for a geeky, philosophical English major who could care less about women and more about Plato, don't bother asking me to play one. I'm not trying to be rude, but it's either that or womanizing jocks or straight-out poufs. I can't seem to grasp male personalities well enough to play one.
My preferred PBs:
I guess it all depends on the circumstances. I've used Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Britney Spears for irony purposes (Ivy League students, completely straightedge cocky brilliant law students, &c), but I couldn't actually see using them in any other context.
I have a lot of issues with certain PBs for one reason or another. Either I've encountered characters with those PBs
and I can't shake the association or the character isn't personality or age-appropriate. I've started to recently become a stickler for age-appropriate PBs, so asking me to use people for high schoolers who are clearly in their 20s bothers me.
Leighton Meester is one of the cutest girls ever. No, not as whoever-her-name-is on Gossip Girl, but "hey, I want to hit on House"!Leighton Meester and "I'm a scared little redhead at the apocalypse on 24"!Leighton Meester, not to mention "I'm a geek and proud of it"!Leighton Meester. Kristen Bell is probably the biggest girlcrush I've ever had in my life, not going to lie. I started using her before I even started watching s1 of Veronica Mars, and she forever holds a special place in my heart. Hayden Panettiere? Same thing. I've been using her since around Ice Princess, and she's the face for one of my favourite characters, so she holds a place in my heart.
Some of my favourite characters looking to be housed right now have the following PBs: Hayden Panettiere, Lindsay Lohan, Kristen Bell, Leighton Meester, Katie Holmes, and Mandy Moore.
I'm also not opposed to fandom. Harry Potter got me my RP start, so it kind of has a special place in my heart. I'd also love to play Firefly, CSI, Dollhouse, Fringe, Veronica Mars, Battlestar Galactica, Ender's Game, or Boston Legal.
Anything else:
I clearly ramble too much. Ha. I'm not generally up for PSLs unless I've played against you in the past and know how you write; I feel like it'd just be strange, writing out a storyline that's predetermined with someone I really don't know anything about or how they'd conceptualize something I have in my own head. I don't know. I'm just weird, but whatever.
